Oil and Energy Appreciation Night on the Horizon!

The team is excited to release our Oil & Energy Jersey which was designed by Seth Eady of the Virden Junior High.  Seth was among 5 finalists for the design of the jersey in November.  Virden product, Brooks Freeman, then refined the jersey to the end result.  The jersey is a true reflection of our Oil & Energy night and what the Industry as a whole stands for in SW Manitoba.

Baker Hughes (a GE Company) has graciously helped us in supporting the design and fabrication of the jerseys.  Baker Hughes is a great partner of our hockey team, and we would like to thank them for their partnering with the club on our Oil & Energy Jersey.

Each player’s jersey will be auctioned starting now through to 5:00 PM on Friday the 18th on the link on the website.  Bids for the jerseys can be emailed to marketing@oilcapshockey.com.  The bids will be updated periodically now until 5:00 PM on Friday.  At that point the jerseys will be silent auctioned off, during the game, with the final auction being cut off at the end of regulation play.  The silent auction will be started at the value that was finished with the internet bidding for each jersey.  Proceeds of the auction will go towards the Oil Capitals Hockey Club in helping to continue to grow our organization both on and off the ice and in the community of Virden and all of SW Manitoba.

Finally and most importantly, the Oil Capitals Organization; including the players, staff, the Board, and the Ownership Group understands that the energy sector in Western Canada is under stress.  Being the Capital of Oil Country here in Southwest Manitoba, we as an organization would like to extend our appreciation to all involved in the Energy Industry.  The Oil Capitals will permit anyone who works or is involved in the Industry, and their family, to come to the game Friday vs the Portage Terriers for FREE.  The organization would like our Energy Sector businesses and their employees to enjoy a night out with their friends and family and to see how much support they have in SW Manitoba.

Please contact the Oil Capitals Office at 204-748-4848 to book your tickets today.  Or attend the game and walk ups will be available depending on capacity.  The Team will be reaching out to all our current Oil & Energy Partners inviting them to the game and offering tickets to their workers and their families.

“As an organization, including our players, staff, our Board and Ownership Group, feel a sense of responsibility to help out our Energy Industry partners, their employees, and their families.  The SW Manitoba area obviously has a strong and vibrant Oil & Energy history.  But what we do here in the SW is of an effect of what is going on both locally and throughout Western Canada.  We know difficult times are being felt in not only Manitoba; but Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC as well.  We would want to show our appreciation and support for all of those affected in the Industry right now. This night will be a great way to celebrate what the Oil & Energy Heritage is in the SW and throughout the whole Western Canadian provinces.  This will be a great hockey game against our league rivals and the league leaders in the Portage Terriers.”  Alluded Jamie Hodson, Director or Business & Hockey Operations.

“Our team is very lucky to be here in the Heart of SW Manitoba Oil Country.  The Industry is imperative in moving our local economy forward.  Were very appreciative of all our Energy Partners and all others involved with the team and who come watch us play.  We can’t wait to put a good show on Friday for all the individuals in attendance.”  Stated GM/Head Coach Troy Leslie.

“Our team is certainly well supported by the Oil and Energy industry here, and the majority of our partners have something to do in that field and we appreciate the partnerships that we’ve made with those companies and individuals. We’re looking forward to showing our appreciation to those guys on Friday.” Stated Assistant Coach Tyson Ramsey.

“Coming into this town at the start of the year I realized that the Oil and energy industry in Virden is the one of the main Industries that drives this community and it’s going to be good that we appreciate them on Friday.” stated Oil Caps Assistant Captain Brock Shwaluk.

Come join us this Friday, as we celebrate Oil & Energy night at the Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
