Oil Caps acquire Zimmer from Terriers

The Virden Oil Capitals have acquired Rylee Zimmer from the Portage Terriers in exchange for Braden Billaney.

Zimmer is a 20-year-old forward who has scored nine goals and 17 points in 16 games this season for the Terriers. Last season, the Russell product netted 21 tallies for 64 points in 50 games with the SJHL’s Flin Flon Bombers.

Oil Caps management describe the 6-foot-2, 183 pound forward as a “dynamic playmaker” who will give us some more scoring depth up front.

“We’re excited to bring Rylee on board,” said Troy Leslie, head coach and GM of the Oil Capitals. “We look forward to having him in the lineup.”

Jamie Hodson, director of business and hockey operations for the Oil Capitals, says Zimmer will add some more experience, speed, and skill to the club overall.

“We’re continuing to look at ways to add depth with experience to our front end. Rylee gives us added scoring component and playmaking abilitites,” Hodson said. “We believe he’ll be able to fit right in and will be able to contribute right away.”

The Oil Caps would like to thank Billaney for his time as a member of the organization and wish him the best of luck moving forward.
