Oil Caps Name Ty Plaisier as Team Captain for the 2025/26 Season

The Virden Oil Capitals are very proud to announce that defenceman Ty Plaisier from Virden has been named the captain of the hockey club for the 2025-2026 season.
Plaisier will be the first hometown player to don the ‘C’ for the Oil Capitals in the history of the organization.
Plaisier was an auto protect selection of the Oil Caps in 2020 and was also drafted in the 4th round by the WHL’s Regina Pats that same spring.  After a couple of brief stints with the Pats, Plaisier has become a mainstay on the Oil Caps blueline the last 3 seasons.  Plaisier is a physical, hard-nosed defenceman with a high work ethic on and off the ice and is a premier penalty killer and shot blocker.
GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey was very proud to make the announcement, “Ty has been an outstanding player and teammate in his time here with the Oil Caps”, said Ramsey.  Ty’s work ethic, determination and passion for his hometown team make him the perfect choice to be our leader next season.  He embodies everything that we want our players to be both on and off the ice and we are very excited for him to have the opportunity to lead our team back to the MJHL playoffs.  We are very proud of Ty and what he has accomplished to this point in his junior hockey career and look forward to next season with him as our leader.”
Plaisier was equally excited to be named the captain of his hometown team,  “It is an absolute honour and I can’t wait to lead this team to the championship that this team and this town deserves. I am so lucky and so grateful to be given this opportunity and so thankful for the countless people who have helped me in many ways over my hockey years”.
The Oil Caps will begin the 2025-2026 MJHL regular season the weekend of September 19th and Season Tickets will go on sale beginning in June!
