The Virden Oil Capitals have a busy October ahead at Tundra Oil & Gas Place, and there will be plenty happening both on and off the ice!
Fans can look forward to three special event games this month, beginning with Minor Hockey Night, followed by Skate with the Caps and wrapping up October with a Haunted Hockey Night.
Minor Hockey Night – Saturday, October 10
The Oil Capitals will celebrate our local minor hockey players when the Caps hit the ice on Saturday, October 10.
Minor hockey players are encouraged to wear their minor hockey jersey to the game and receive FREE admission. Throughout the evening, there will also be kids’ draws, prizes and special recognition of the young players who make minor hockey such an important part of our community.
Whether you’re just starting out in hockey or have been playing for years, wear your jersey proudly and come enjoy a night with the Oil Caps! Minor Hockey teams from surrounding communities are encouraged to come as well!
Puck drops at 7:30 PM.
Skate with the Caps – Friday, October 16
On Friday, October 16, fans will have the chance to get on the ice with their favourite Oil Capitals players!
Immediately following the game, fans are invited to Skate with the Caps and Digger. Bring your skates and helmet to the rink and stick around after the final buzzer for a fun opportunity to meet the players, take some pictures and share the ice with the team.
It’s always one of our favourite ways for the players to spend some time with the young Oil Caps fans who cheer them on all season!
Game time is 7:30 PM, with the skate immediately following the game.
Haunted Hockey Night – Friday, October 30
We’re finishing October with a spooky night at the rink!
Come dressed in your Halloween costume for Haunted Hockey Night on Friday, October 30. Fans can take part in Halloween x Oil Caps themed draws and activities throughout the evening, with a prize for the best costume.
The Oil Caps players will also be putting their creativity to the test with their own carved pumpkins. They’ll be on display at the rink, and fans will get to vote for their favourite!
Costumes, pumpkins, prizes and Oil Caps hockey — it’s the perfect way to kick off Halloween weekend.
Puck drops at 7:30 PM.
Make October an Oil Caps Month!
We want Oil Capitals games to be about more than what happens on the ice. These special nights are a chance for families, young hockey players and fans throughout the community to come together and have some fun at the rink.
Mark October 10, October 16 and October 30 on your calendar and join us at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
We can’t wait to see you at the rink!
