The Virden Oil Capitals went on the road yesterday, September 26th to Neepawa, MB, to play their first match up against the Titans this season.
Virden came out on top 7-3.
In the first period the Oil Caps saw 2 goals. First by #14 Nation Miller assisted by MacKenzie and Lehto followed by #27 Josh Lehto with an assist from MacKenzie. Titans Mason Hartley scored at 13:36 ending the first, 2-1 in favour of the Caps.
During the second, the Titans put up their 2nd goal of the night at 9:29. Followed by 2 more Oil Cap goals. Dean Gorchynski at 16:30 assisted by Homeniuk and Nolan Chastko on a powerplay with A minute and a half to go with an assist from Bryant and D. Bielik.
After 40 minutes of play the Caps had a 2 goal lead.
Heading into the final period 4-2, the Caps came out strong with a quick goal just 3 minutes in. Naton Miller for his 3rd of season so far and 2nd of the night assisted by Guthrie and Lehto. Noel Englot furthered the Oil Caps lead on a powerplay with his 2nd of the season just 3 minutes later assisted by Lehto and Bryant. The titans happened to get one more past Reid on a man advantage for their 3rd and final goal of the night. Oil Caps Luke Mackenzie with an assist from Miller scored his first of the season at 17:08 adding to the Oil Caps victory.
