Bodie the OT Hero

January 13

Virden, MB – Drake Bodie scored the OT Winner and sent Tundra Oil & Gas Place into a frenzy as the Oil Caps knocked off the Winnipeg Blues 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

Devan Schram (1G-1A), opened the scoring on the power play in the first period. Schram would finish the night as the game’s third star.

The Blues would take a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd as Reid Stefanson and Kamerin Nault notched goals 7 minutes apart.

Less than a minute later, Ben Dalke would drive to the net and pot his 23rd of the season to tie things up.

After a scoreless third period it cued up an exciting finish.

Devan Schram stripped Garrett Browning at the Blues line and fired a shot off the blocker of Scott Parsons, the rebound landed right at the feet of Drake Bodie who launched the puck into the back of the net for the game winner.

Parsons made 26 saves in the Blues crease while Sean Kuehn kicked aside 21 for the win.

The win seals the season series 4-2 over the Blues and would give the Caps home ice advantage tiebreaker in the playoffs in the event the Blues catch the Caps in the standings.

Next action for the Caps is Monday afternoon in Portage. That game is a 4:30 start at PCU Centre.
