Kolten Kanaski Named 2019-2020 Captain

VIRDEN OIL CAPITALS NAME KOLTEN KANASKI CAPTAIN OF THE HOCKEY CLUB FOR THE 2019/2020 SEASON

The Virden Oil Capitals are extremely excited to introduce Kolten Kanaski as the team’s captain for the 2019/2020 season.

The 20 year old forward is a product of Beausejour, MB and is entering his fourth and final season with the Oil Caps.  Last season with the Oil Caps, Kolten lead the team in scoring with 32 goals and 30 assists for 62 points which also put him 6th in league scoring.  He also led the team in playoff scoring with 8 goals and 5 assists while helping a younger group earn a spot in the league semi final against the Portage Terriers.

Head Coach and GM Tyson Ramsey is extremely happy to have Kolten wear the ‘C’ for his hockey club this season, “Kolten is a natural leader on top of being a very gifted player on the ice.  He is respected in our dressing room by our returning group and makes sure he takes the time to develop a strong connection with all of the young players coming in to our organization. He will be an important part of helping us develop a winning culture at the same time being a strong ambassador for our club in the community and throughout the league.  We are extremely happy that Kolten has chosen to complete his junior hockey career here in Virden and we look forward to what we might be able to accomplish with him as our captain.”

The Oil Caps will announce the rest of their leadership group as the regular season draws near next week.  The club will begin its regular season on September 20th in Selkirk and the Steelers will return to Tundra Oil & Gas Place on September 21st for the Valleyview Co-op Home Opener at 7:30 pm.
