OIL CAPS LOSE IN BACK TO BACK GAMES

The Virden Oil Caps played in back-to-back games against the Dauphin Kings Friday, Oct. 15th & Saturday, Oct. 16th.

Friday night the Oil Caps fell 4-3 at home in a hard-fought game.

In the first period forward Parker Johnson scored his 3rd of the season and first of the night at 4:10 putting Virden on the board.

Shortly after Dauphins Mathew Rathbone responded with a goal of his own giving the Kings their first of the night and tying up the game.

Later on, in the period Parker Johnson scored his second of the game giving the Oil Caps the lead. The period ended 2-1 Caps.

The second began with the Kings scoring two quick goals and taking the lead however the lead wasn’t held long with Dylan Halliday on the power-play scoring his 6th of the season and tying the game up at 9:58.

During the final period both teams continued to battle when Dauphins Parker Malchuk scored late in the frame ending the game 4-3 Dauphin.

Oil Caps Parker Johnson received second star with 2 goals.

Saturday, Oct. 16th

Virden Oil Capitals went on the road to Dauphin for their second matchup with the Dauphin Kings.

The game got underway with the Kings scoring just 4 minutes in. Virden; however, scored 2 goals ending the period and taking the lead. Tyler Thoendel assisted by David Bielik and Branden Huminuk at 11:53, Dylan Halliday assisted by Braden Fischer and Branden Huminuk at 17:41.

Only one goal was scored during the second by Dauphins Ben Hackl who tied up the game 2-2.

During the third period Dauphin scored 2 goals ending the game 4-2 for the Kings.

Virden’s David Bielik received 3rd star with 1 assist.

The next match up for the Virden Oil Capitals and the Dauphin Kings is Friday, October 22ndat Credit Union Place Dauphin.

Next home action for the Oil Capitals is Saturday, October 23rd at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
