Darin Banga and Perry Meikle Join Oil Capitals Board of Directors                            

The Virden Oil Capitals are very happy to announce the additions of Darin Banga and Perry Meikle to its Board of Directors.

Darin Banga:

Banga, and his family have resided in Virden, moving here from Saskatchewan, taking over as managing partner of Neild Bros Ford in January of 2007.  Banga has been managing partner of the now named, Virden Ford, since 2007.  Virden Ford has always been a staunch supporter of many organizations and community minded clubs in Virden and surrounding area since the Banga’s took the reins in 2007.  Banga and his family have been avid supporters of the Oil Capitals since the team’s move to Virden in 2012.  Banga is also involved in many community minded ventures and initiatives and can always be visible in the efforts to help out where possible.

Banga’s family includes his wife Nicky, son Liam and daughter Alexa

“I’m very honoured that I was asked to join the board. I feel that with my background and experience in customer service and sales, I can bring some new or different ideas to the organization and to help continue the great tradition this club has set to date.   Since the oil capitals inception, I have seen first-hand the positive impact the players and the team have had on our community and surrounding area.  I’m excited to be a part of that going forward and to help this team move forward into the next several years,” stated Darin Banga.

 

Perry Meikle:

Meikle, and his family have resided in Virden for the duration of their lives.  Meikle has been a game night operations manager since the 1st game the Oil Capitals played in season one.  Meikle can be seen on any game night organizing the game operations volunteers and helping keep the Oil Capitals game running smoothly off the ice.  Meikle was involved in the Oil Industry for over 30 years but more recently has joined Virden Chrysler Dodge.  Meikle and his family are intertwined in the Town of Virden fabric of the community and are supporters of many activities in the Oil Capital of Southwestern Manitoba.

Meikle’s family includes his wife Tara, daughter Paige, and son Steven.  The Meikle’s have also been a billet family for many Oil Capitals over the years; today they billet Jayden Wojciechowski.  The Meikle’s also billeted Cole Hamblin who passed away in 2014, from cancer.

“I’ve been involved with the Oil Capitals since its inaugural season as a billet and as a volunteer managing game day off ice officials and volunteers.  I am honoured and excited to be appointed to the board of directors of the hockey club.  I look forward to furthering my commitment to the Oil Capitals organization and working with the existing board members to help guide the club on a path to success in the future,” stated Perry Meikle.

“Darin and Perry will bring an added element of professionalism, pride, and enthusiasm to our Board.  Each will bring different areas of expertise to our Board of Directors.  Darin, with is sense of business and community minded spirit, will help in many areas of our teams marketing and business goals with the hockey club.  Perry with his enthusiasm and love for this hockey club both on and off the ice, will bring a sense of community and a connection to our fan base that he can bring to the Board level.  Our hockey club and our Board of Directors, along with our ownership group is really encouraged to have both these individuals joining our off ice team.” Stated Jamie Hodson, Director of Business and Hockey Operations with the hockey club.
