Frederiksen Earns MNP Player of the Month Honours

Soren Frederiksen has been named the MNP Player of the Month for the Virden Oil Capitals hockey club during the month of December. The 20-year-old from East St. Paul, MB lit the lamp seven times in the month to go along with seven assists for 14 points in nine games for Virden.

Along with earning this months award, he was also named a finalist for the MJHL’s RBC Player of the Month for December behind Portage’s Zach Waldvogel who narrowly edged him out in points.

Frederiksen was acquired by the Oil Caps from the Selkirk Steelers in October and has led the way offensively for the club ever since. His 40 points (22 G, 18 A) on the season tops the Oil Caps scoring list and is good enough for eighth overall in league scoring.

The smooth skating forward is in his final season of Junior hockey eligibility and aspires to attain an NCAA scholarship for next season. Frederiksen has become a leader in the dressing room and has been a welcomed addition to the team and the community of Virden.
