Solecki Added to Oil Caps Blue Line

The Virden Oil Capitals have added 20-year-old defenseman, Owen Solecki, from the OCN Blizzard today in exchange for 17-year-old list player, Mark Klassen, and future considerations.

Solecki comes to the Oil Capital from OCN after playing 35 games for the Blizzard where he had nine points (1 G, 8 A) during the first half of the season. The native of Burns Lake, British Columbia spent his 18 and 19-year-old seasons with the La Ronge Ice Wolves in the SJHL before joining the Blizzard this fall.

At 6’2″, 200 lbs, Solecki is a big bodied defenseman who moves the puck well and will add another veteran presence to the Oil Caps blue line along with Jordan Greig and Clay Van Diest.

Heading to OCN is prospect, Mark Klassen, of Carman, MB. Klassen currently plays for the Pembina Valley Hawks and has accumulated 24 points (5 G, 19 A) in 30 games on the season.

This move comes a few days ahead of the CJHL trade deadline that is set for Saturday, January 10th.
