Media & Communications Manager / Game Day Co-ordinator

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication strategy integrating all available channels of communications and engaging all relevant partnerships. Ensure core messaging around the Oil Capitals is delivered.
  • Develop and manage key media strategy (FaceBook/Twitter/Instagram/TikTok)
  • Play a leading role in delivering the contact and content management element of the Virden Oil Capitals to include a CRM strategy (MailChimp) to ensure fans/partners receive relevant and timely information through appropriate channels to strengthen engagement.
  • Working with the Office Manager, to ensure key marketing messages are delivered through the communication channels.
  • In conjunction with the Office Manager, identify & develop beneficial media relations with key media contacts and leverage those relationships to gain profile for the hockey club.
  • Lead the management of the Oil Capitals Website, ensuring the content is relevant, engaging and up-to-date
  • Plan, manage and execute the production of all Virden Oil Capitals Home Games
  • Prepare detailed Game Day scripting, timing and rundowns for public address announcer, game day staff and others.
  • Work with Game Day Hosts/Vendors to ensure a positive Game Day Experience
  • Oversee in-game promotions, venue activations and all game day arena set up
  • Develop new ideas to enhance fan engagement in-venue
  • Organize, train & supervise game day volunteers and staff
  • Work with video production to ensure game day experience for fans and partners
  • In working with the General Manager & Office Manager, there may be other reasonable management requests.

  • Must be able to interact and engage with partners, fans & public
  • Exhibit professionalism as a representative of the Virden Oil Capitals
  • Available to work flexible hours during the season
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to adapt/adjust as circumstances change

Salary is dependant on experience/qualifications and will be discussed with each candidate.

Start date would be approximately mid-August and goes until April (depending on play-offs).
