Local Product, Jason Taylor, Joins Speaking Lineup at Oil Capitals 7th Annual Awards Banquet.

Over seventeen years ago, Oak Lake product, Jason Taylor started his post playing hockey career as an Agent/Hockey Advisor with Newport Sports Management.  During this time, Taylor has worked with some of the brightest stars of today’s generation in the NHL and other Pro Leagues.

Jason has worked alongside the likes of top agents: Craig Oster and Don Meehan with Newport Sports to become one of the more trusted Advisor’s in Western Canada.  Taylor has worked with NHL players such as Evander Kane, Jordan Eberle, Brandon Sutter, and Shea Theodore.  Taylor has also worked with many notable Manitoban’s such as Joel Edmundson, Adam Lowry, Mark Stone, and Cody Glass.  Altogether, Taylor has worked with over 130 players (28 first round NHL draft picks) that have signed contracts in the NHL.  Their salaries alone, have encompassed over $900 million dollars towards salary cap revenues.

Taylor, son to ex star NHLer, Ted Taylor and wife Sharon Taylor of Oak Lake Manitoba, also had a long and distinguished playing career as well.  Growing up in the Oak Lake Minor Hockey System, Taylor went on to win a SJHL Championship with the Estevan Bruins in 1985, and competed against the MJHL’s Champions Selkirk Steelers in today’s apply named; Anavet Cup.  Taylor, again, followed up as league finalist in 1986 with the Bruins.  Taylor would then go on to play with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL, followed by his time with the University of Manitoba with the Bison’s Hockey Team.  Alongside a NHL camp invites with the Vancouver Canucks in 1990 and 1991 as well as Minnesota North Star’s Spring Camp invite in 1991.  Jason Taylor went on to play nine years of pro hockey in North America and abroad in Europe.

Today, Taylor spends the majority of his time in rinks in North America and in Europe evaluating future hockey stars.  Jason Taylor now lives in Bellingham Washington, with wife Nicole.   Taylor still frequents is home town area and can be seen in many local rinks in winter and golf courses in the summer time.
