Oil Caps Captain, Ben Williams, has been named the club’s MNP Player of the Month for the month of October. The team’s leading goal scorer had eight goals and three assists in 13 games for the Oil Caps during the fall month to give him 13 points total on the season.

Williams’ biggest night of the month came in Winnipeg against the Blues when he registered two goals and one assist in the team’s 4-3 overtime win.

The Souris-native appears to be finding his offensive side to his game which started roughly around Christmas of last season. After not registering a goal in his rookie season, Williams had two goals to his name as of the holiday season in 2013. He ended up scoring eight goals in the final 17 games before adding four more goals in nine playoff contests. That offensive touch has continued into this season and has played a large part in the Oil Caps’ success early on.

Should Williams bulge the twine this weekend during the team’s three-game northern trip, he will become the fastest Oil Capital to reach the double-digit goal plateau in a single season. His nine tucks on the season currently has him tied for fifth in the MJHL in goals scored.

Runners up for this month’s award are defenseman, Kevin Pochuk, and 19-year-old forward, Devan Schram”
