Kirklan Lycar has been named the MNP Player of the Month for the Virden Oil Capitals hockey club during the month of December. The 19-year-old from Elma, MB lit the lamp three times in the month to go along with nine assists for 13 points in eight games for Virden.

Along with earning this months award, he was also named Recycle Everywhere MJHL Player of the week for the week ending January 1.

Lycar was acquired by the Oil Caps from the Portage Terriers in December and has led the way offensively for the club ever since.

Personal
Son of Mark and Leah Lycar and one of two children: brother Kasey. Lycar’s career highlight was playing in the CJHL Top Prospects Game. Aspires to play hockey as long as he can and go to school. Lists his favourite food as steak and his favourite pre-game meal as pasta. Mentions that his hobbies are golfing, playing NHL 17 and being a Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan. His favourite athlete is Sidney Crosby and his favourite pr=sports team is Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Something that most people wouldn’t know about Lycar is that he skipped a grade when he was younger.
