Oil Capitals Clinch Overtime Victory Against Winnipeg Blues

In an exciting game at Tundra Oil & Gas Place, the Virden Oil Capitals battled it out with the Winnipeg Blues in a thrilling contest that kept the fans on the edges of their seats.

The opening frame began with both teams testing the waters until the Blues’ Dawson Zeller broke the ice at 13:07. But the Oil Capitals weren’t down for long. Just 35 seconds later, Josh Lehto netted one for his 11th tally of the season, off a slick feed from Joey Bielik. The Caps didn’t let up the pressure, and Nolan Chastko found the back of the net at 14:59, with Bryce Bryant and Braeden Lewis playing the setup men. The first period buzzer sounded with the Caps holding a 2-1 lead.

In the second period, the Caps continued to dominate the ice. Luke Robson rippled the twine, thanks to Grady Lane dishing out a perfect assist at 12:08. The Blues clawed back, capitalizing on a power play to narrow the gap to 3-2.

The third period was a nail-biter, with the Blues’ Tyler Dodgson evening the score at 3-3 midway through.

With the scoreboard deadlocked after regulation, the game shifted into a heart-pounding 5-minute overtime. The teams traded chances in a thrilling display of skill and determination. Finally, at 3:06 of the extra frame, Josh Lehto, his 12th of the season came through with an impressive unassisted game-winner, his second of the night, sealing a 4-3 victory for the Oil Capitals.
