OIL CAPS FALL TO BRUINS

The Virden Oil Capitals fell to the visiting Estevan Bruins 4-3 last night in their first exhibition game of the season.

The first goal of the night was scored late in the period by Estevan’s Mark Corbett.

During the second, the Oil Caps put up two goals. Nash Henwood at 5:35 assisted by Englot and Wuerfel followed by Ethan Guthrie at 11:58 with an assist from Englot. The Oil Caps took the lead for only a short time when the Bruins put up 3 goals all within two and a half minutes to end the period 4-2.

At 6:19 into the final period Layton Veitch scored the Oil Caps 3rd and final goal of the night ending the game 4-3 in favour of the Bruins.

The Virden Oil Capitals head to Portage tomorrow Sept. 12th to play the Terriers at Stride Place, 7:30 PM puck drop and the Oil Caps are back on home ice Saturday, September 16th, 7:30 pm puck drop against the visiting Dauphin Kings.
