Caps Community Connection

February 1

Virden, MB - The Virden Oil Capitals are proud to announce that each week from now until the end of the 2015/2016 Season and into next year, www.oilcapshockey.com will feature a segment called “Caps Community Connection.”

The Oil Capitals are proud to be a part of the community of Virden and enjoy partnering with schools, minor sports and community groups for events and projects throughout the year.

We hope fans will take note of the efforts put forth by our players to make this community a better place and promote healthy living, volunteerism and learning not only among young kids, but everyone in town!

Enjoy!

Events During the Week of January 24th to 30th

-The Oil Caps took part in the Mary Montgomery School Activity Day! Half the team took part in public skating with the kids at Tundra Oil & Gas Place while the other half hosted a handful of winter events on the playground of Mary Montgomery School! Along with the activities, the players handed out close to 200 tickets for upcoming home games.

-The Oil Caps were invited to the Habitat for Humanity Home luncheon as a thank you for the volunteer efforts put forth by Derek Cross, Kyle Salaway, Kyle Bird and Sean Kuehn during the building process. Unfortunately due to scheduling (Game Day), the Oil Caps were unable to attend. The Oil Caps will continue to lend a hand to Habitat for Humanity as they finish their project!

-On Friday, the Oil Caps were invited to take part in Gym Class at Goulter School. Zach Whitecloud, Derek Cross and Dylan Cusmano spent the afternoon playing road hockey & floor hockey with the kids from several class rooms!

-Following the game vs OCN, the Caps hosted an Autograph night for fans to get their 2015/2016 Subway Hockey Cards signed. Close to 150 kids stuck around after the game to meet and chat with their favourite players!
