Caps Fans Scooping Up Season Tickets

May 18

The Drive for 805 is well underway as the Virden Oil Capitals look to set a new franchise record for season ticket holders.

Season tickets have been on sale since April 29th and the club has sold over 100 to date. Of those 100, twelve of them are new season ticket holders.

“Our whole goal is to bring new people into the rink and have new fans invest in our team” said Marketing Director Branden Crowe.

“We have the best fans in the MJHL and we want to reward them with a chance to win a bunch of great prizes if they take advantage of our early bird opportunities.”

Each person who buys an Early Bird season ticket will have their name entered into a draw for a trip for four to Phoenix, including accommodations and Coyote hockey tickets. Along with the grand prize trip, the Oil Caps will draw one ticket holder per day for a ten-day period in June with prizes ranging from golf passes to Blue Bomber tickets.

Another new addition to the Oil Capitals season ticket drive is the Referral Program. The program allows current season ticket holders to refer a friend. If a new season ticket is purchased, the person who made the referral will get five more entries into the grand prize draw!

“It’s a pretty nice grand prize. The guys at All Seasons Properties were kind enough to donate a week at their house in Phoenix and a lot of people are excited about their chances to win” said Crowe.

Although attendance has remained in the top two in the MJHL, Season tickets have been on the decline since the club’s inaugural season when 738 fans purchased packages. With many families busy with minor hockey, school activities and winter holidays, some people just can’t commit to a full slate of hockey games.

In the past, all Oil Caps ticket holders were given a book of 29 tickets for the season. This season, season ticket holders will be able to request a package of 29 undated tickets called a Flex Pack.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people who say that if they can’t make 8-10 games they feel like season tickets are a waste of money,” added Crowe.

“With the Flex Pack, it will allow them to use the tickets for whatever games they can make it to. Ideally there should be no wasted tickets this way.”

The Early Bird Deadline will be Thursday June 2nd at 4:00. Following that date, tickets will return to their regular rate.

Between June 6th and 10th, ticket holders will have an opportunity to change their seat location while on June 13th, all remaining unsold seats will be put on sale for the general public.
