Carmen Ross Earns Cole Hamblin Scholarship

June 28

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals along with the Oil Capitals Foundation are proud to announce that graduating VCI Golden Bear Carmen Ross has earned the 2016 Cole Hamblin Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was created in memory of former Oil Capitals defenseman Cole Hamblin, who lost his battle with Cancer in November of 2014.

Ross, will be hitting the court with the Brandon University Bobcats Women’s Volleyball team in the fall after a spectacular high school athletics career that included AAA Provincial Championships in both Volleyball and Basketball.

“Carmen is a very dedicated athlete to the game of volleyball,” said Bears Coach Steve Densmore.

“She always works hard and never relies on excuses. Carmen knows the game so you can get her to try things easier and she picks up on new ideas and uses them to her advantage. She is a very coachable player, adapts well to every situation. Every coach should get the chance to coach a Carmen.”

Carmen along with her classmates, including Oil Caps Dylan Thiessen, Tyler Kirkup & Tristen Cross graduated from Virden Collegiate this morning at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
