Virden, MB – As the 2016 MJHL Draft approaches, the Virden Oil Capitals are proud to announce their two Auto-Protect Draft Picks, Taylor Cuny and Brennan Williams.
Cuny spent last season with the Southwest AAA Bantam Cougars and scored 9 goals and 14 points in 30 games.
“We are very excited to have Taylor. He is a very skilled individual who has the ability to play both forward and defence,” said Assistant GM & Director of Player Personnel Chad Leslie.
“As the year progressed, Taylor got more comfortable with the pace and intensity of the AAA bantam game. When he was moved back to defence he was excellent. He is a fantastic kid and a terrific teammate.”
Williams, who spent last season with the Virden Bantam Oil Capitals, scored 21 times while adding 17 assists in 32 games played.
“Brennan is a skilled, strong forward who plays in traffic and has the ability to score,” said Leslie.
“We were very impressed with Brennan at our draft eligible evaluation camp this past April. He came in and played excellent alongside everyone else who played AAA bantam this past season. We are looking forward to watching his development over the next couple of years.”
The Oil Caps will continue to build for the future this weekend during the annual MJHL Annual General Meeting and Draft held in Selkirk.
The Oil Caps hold the 8th overall pick in the draft and head into the weekend with six total selections.
