Oil Caps sign defenceman Pawluk

July 4, 2017

The Virden Oil Capitals are pleased to announce that 1999-born defenseman, Brayden Pawluk, has committed to the club for the 2017-2018 season and beyond.

The 6’4, 190-pound product of Teulon Manitoba, spent last season with the Connecticut Wolf Pack Prep School in the AYHL in the United States.

In 35 games, Pawluk scored 10 goals and added 14 assists for 24 points to go along with 50 penalty minutes for the Wolf Pack this past season.

“For a player of his size, Brayden can move well and is quite mobile on the ice. We listed Brayden as a forward two years ago and since then he has adapted well into a mobile but steady D-Man with a great shot. We feel his ability and experience playing as a forward only helps our club in giving us more options should the time arise throughout the season. Brayden is a strong guy and is tough to play against. We look forward to having Brayden on our team moving forward,” says Troy Leslie, GM and Head Coach of the Oil Capitals.

Director of Business and Hockey Operations, Jamie Hodson, reiterates: “We look forward to having this young man with his pedigree on the team and in the community. Brayden comes from a family farm by Teulon, and brings a strong character and a good work ethic to our organization. Brayden’s brother, Wesley, played with Selkirk and Neepawa in the MJHL and played a season with the U of M Bison’s men’s hockey team. Brayden’s sister, Michelle, played at the U of M with the Bison’s women’s hockey team as well. We are looking forward to having Brayden and the Pawluk family as part of our hockey club moving forward.”
