OIL CAPS TAKE THE WIN IN A SHOOT OUT

The Virden Oil Capitals played in Winkler last night, defeating the Flyers in BACK-TO-BACK games!

Winkler Flyers Trent Sambrook opened the scoring in the first period at 5:29. Braeden Fischer answered back with an unassisted goal at 8:26 with Dylan Halliday following. Later in the frame the Flyers hammered in 2 more goals to end the first at a score of 3-2 for the Flyers.

Heading into the second period the Flyers scored early on. However, Oil Caps Braeden Fischer went in for his second of the night assisted by Trevor Hunt.

In the third frame Dylan Halliday scored his second of the night leaving the game a tie after 60 minutes of play.

After 60 minutes of play and OT solving nothing, the game went into a shootout where Tyler Thoendel scored the game winning goal while Eric Reid stood tall in the net stopping all 3 of the Flyers shooters giving the Oil Caps the 5-4 Victory!

The Oil Caps wrap up their exhibition season Tuesday, September 14th at home against the Portage Terriers. 7:30 puck drop.
