Shwaluk Commits to University of Victoria Vikes

Former Virden Oil Capital defenseman Brock Shwaluk has committed to University of Victoria Vikes for the 2019-2020 hockey season.

Shwaluk, from LaSalle, MB was with the Oil Capitals for just one season. In his time with the team he played 62 games and put up 1 goal and 9 assists for 10 points and racked up 170 penalty minutes.

“University of Victoria (U of Vic) was an easy decision to make after learning how professional the hockey staff is, and how U of Vic is one of the best schools in the country.”Stated Shwaluk.“I will be going to U of Vic for business, however I am still undecided in what I will be majoring in yet. I am beyond excited to call U pf Vic my home for the next 4 years.”

“Brock was a real professional here. His work ethic and passion for the game resonated amongst our players. He was a leader both on and off the ice. We wish him nothing but the best.” Stated Oil Caps Management.

Shwaluk had a short time with the Oil Caps but enjoyed his stay. “Although only playing with the Virden Oil Caps for one season, it was one of the best experiences I could have asked for. From the coaching staff, to my billets Greg and Cathy, and the fans, they have all made me feel welcome since day one. I wouldn’t have wanted to finish my 20 year old year anywhere else!” Stated Shwaluk.
