VIRDEN OIL CAPITALS NAME BRODY WILSON CAPTAIN FOR THE 2022/23 HOCKEY SEASON

The Virden Oil Capitals are extremely excited to announce Brody Wilson as the team’s Captain for the 2022/2023 hockey season.

The 20-year-old forward is from Birtle, MB and is entering his second and final season with the Virden Oil Caps. Brody joined the Oil Caps club in January last season from the Nipawin Hawks.

Brody Wilson says – “It’s a huge honour to be named captain of the Virden Oil Capitals, it’s something I take a lot of pride in. Virden is a great organization and hockey community. I’m really excited and looking forward to the opportunity. My main goal is to work hard, challenge myself and my teammates on and off the ice and have a successful season. We have a good group of returning players, awesome coaches and staff as well as many new faces coming in that I’m sure will make the Virden Oil Caps a fun team to watch!”

Last season with the Oil Caps, Brody played a total of 21 regular season games where he contributed to the team in scoring 6 goals and 2 assists.

Head Coach and GM Tyson Ramsey says “We are very happy to name Brody as the next captain of our hockey club.  Brody embodies everything we want in our players both on and off the ice.  Brody has an unbelievable work ethic.  He is the first one on the ice and into the gym, he enjoys volunteering his time to the community and he understands the culture we are continuing to grow here.  He is so well respected by his teammates and coaches and we are very fortunate to have Brody lead our hockey club into this new season.

The Virden Oil Capitals will announce the rest of their leadership group at a later date. The 2022/23 hockey season begins with 2 home exhibition games. Sept.6th against the Portage Terriers and 9th against the Estevan Bruins. The season begins its regular season Friday, Sept 16th at Tundra Oil & Gas Place, 7:30pm.
