WHL VETERAN RETURNS

The Virden Oil Capitals have added another hometown boy to their roster. 2003 forward Grady Lane has been reassigned to the club by the Western Hockey League’s Victoria Royals.

Lane started his junior career in the MJHL with the Winkler Flyers before embarking on a WHL career that included stops in Spokane with the Chiefs and most recently with the Victoria Royals. His rights were acquired by the Oil Caps before the 2020-2021 season and he did suit up with the Caps for 3 games before the season was shut down due to the pandemic.

Lane is a big body, that plays the game hard and in your face. His physical presence and leadership will be a welcome addition to an already deep forward group.

GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey was all smiles when talking about adding Lane to the roster, “I am so excited to add a player of Grady’s caliber to our roster”, said Ramsey. “He is a player that brings so many positive things to a team. He plays the game so hard and physical giving him the ability to get to hard areas of the rink. He works so hard on and off the ice to get better every day! And then you add in his impeccable character and leadership in the dressing room and it’s just really exciting! Not to mention he comes from right here in Virden. Today is a great day for our organization. Welcome back Grady!”
