Caps Lose Home Opener

September 23

Virden, MB –  The day that all Oil Caps fans and players had been waiting for finally arrived, the home opener. There was lots of excitement in the atmosphere with all the anticipation of the new season. 

To start the evening off in an Oil Caps fashion there was a Tailgate BBQ before the gates opened for the game, brought to you by Virden Community Chamber of Commerce. 

The fans started to roll in, filling the stands with about 1,182 people cheering on the Oil Capitals. The first period was a quiet one with no scoring on both ends. 

The second period the Terriers got on the board halfway through the second period 1-0, Terriers.

The third period the Terriers found the board three more times. The Caps had their chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. The final score was 4-0 Terriers. 

The Caps next game is Sunday, September 25 vs Portage Terriers. The Caps next home game is October 2 vs Winnipeg Blues.
