OIL CAPS TOUGH LOSS IN OT

Virden Oil Capitals were in Neepawa Saturday night for their second match up against the Titans. In a hard-fought game, the Oil Caps fell short to the Titans in overtime 5-4.

The Titans started the game with a goal on a power play at 15:02 and a short 28 seconds later Oil Caps Evan Groening scored assisted by Buyden’s and Thoendel.

Heading into the second period Neepawa hammered in 2 goals before the 10-minute mark. During the second half of the period Dylan Halliday scored a lone goal leaving the Oil Caps down by just 1.

Neepawa’s Will Highet answered back giving the Titans a 2-goal lead.

To end the second Carson Buyden’s scored late in the period leaving the score 4-3 for the Titans.

Carson Buydens scored his second of the night and the Oil Capitals 4th goal of the game during the 3rd and final frame sending the game into overtime. Carson’s second of the night was assisted by Tyler Theondel.

Overtime ended with Titans Josh Romanyk scoring just 44 seconds ending the game 5-4 Titans.

Virden Oil Capitals Carson Buydens received the 3rd star of the game with 2 goals and 1 assist.
