Whittle Signs Letter of Intent with Oil Capitals

The Virden Oil Capitals are pleased to announce that local Virden native Dexter Whittle has signed a letter of intent with the club for the upcoming season. The 5’9 175-pound defenceman has played U18 AAA with the Southwest Cougars the last two seasons and has chipped in with 16 points in 55 games.

Head Coach Tyson Ramsey has this to say on the announcement.

“We are very excited that Dexter has chosen to commit to our hockey club for next season.  Not only is he a hometown guy, he is developing into a very very good player.  He brings so many things to the table as a player.  He defends well, he has the ability to make plays and he plays a grinding, in your face kind of game that wears the other team down.  Dex brings excellent character and work ethic and he will be a welcome addition to our back end.  We can’t wait to get him in an Oil Caps jersey!”

Whittle, chosen as an auto-protect in the 2019 MJHL Draft, and was one of the last cuts this fall’s training camp.
