NEEPAWA DEFEATS CAPS BACK-TO-BACK

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals played against the visiting Neepawa Titans Friday, November 18th at Tundra Oil & Gas Place and Saturday, November 19th at the Yellowhead Centre.

Unfortunately, the Titans defeated the Oil Caps in both games.

During Friday’s game in the first at 12:32 Neepawa’s Carter McLeod opened the scoring on a powerplay as Oil Caps Plaisier was called for hooking.

At 17:24 Oil Caps defenceman Trevor Hunt scored on a man advantage tying the game up, however the Titans scored with just under 2 minutes left in the first re-taking the lead 2-1 to head into intermission.

In the second, nearly 3 minutes in, Oil Caps defenceman Trevor Hunt scored his second of the night followed by David Bielik with his 3rd of the season on a powerplay at 4:53. The lead wasn’t held long with Titans Connor Thompson scoring at 14:10 tying the game up once again. 3-3 heading into the final period.

The 3rd consisted of 5 goals.

At 1:42 Briley Wood scored the Titans 4th of the game followed by Brayden Michalchuk 16 seconds later. Both on powerplays. Carter McLeod further the Titans lead at 11:24.

Oil Caps Captain Brody Wilson scored his 5th of the season with 2 and half minutes left in the final period. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Caps were down by 2 and Neepawa’s Parker Korman scored his second of the game with 26 seconds remaining.

The game came to an end 7-4 in favour of the Titans.

 

Neepawa, MB – The Oil Caps were hoping to have some redemption in the following game Saturday, November 19th at the Yellowhead Centre, however it did not go in their favour.

Saturday’s game was a big loss for the Oil Caps as Neepawa’s goaltender Mason Lobreau allowed no goals on his net for a shutout win.

The first period saw 4 Titan goals. Three of which were on powerplays as Guthrie was called for tripping, Hunt for boarding and Blocker for a high stick.

During the second 2 more Titan goals were scored both on powerplays. The second for the Oil Caps consisted of a total of 27 penalty minutes.

The final period saw 1 goal from Neepawa’s Briley Wood for his second of the night.

Final score for Saturday’s game was 7-0 in favour of the Titans.

The Oil Caps next home action is November 26th at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. 7:30pm puck drop.
